Way Up North is Here!

I wanted to start this site off with an introduction, a sort of extended about me. Im Carrie, Im in my late 30s, although the 40s are getting closer and closer! Agh! I love reading, writing, coffee, wine, and whiskey. I am a mother to two wonderful and active kids, our son Alexander and our daughter Anja.

My husband is Robin, he works in the psychology field where he helps individuals who need daily care. He loves his job and its a good fit for him because he is the most patient person I know.

Robin and I met in 2002 when he was an exchanged student in my hometown in Mississippi and we were hosting an exchange student from Venezuela so our families would get together, eventually one thing led to another and we started in November 2002. We persevered through a long distance relationship until August 2005 when he came back to the states to attend college. We got engaged in March 2006 and eventually got married July 2009, had Alexander in 2011 and Anja in 2014. Through all of that we lived in Mississippi, Kentucky, Finland, Norway, North Carolina and Tennessee.

In 2015 after some challenges and wanting to explore a different way of life we chose to move back to Robins hometown in Northern Norway.

I currently work in Tourism and within my job I do many things. We all wear many hats. My background is in International Business. So it works. I am also currently finishing up my last semester of a two year graphic design program.

Way back in the day I had an extremely successful and large book blog called Just One More Chapter, but as I had my first child I just couldn’t dedicate the time and effort to the site more. But now Im back to blogging again. While I absolutely loved writing for Just One More Chapter and it brought me so much joy! My priorities at the time changed. While I don’t regret that choice I do wish I would have found a way to balance my new role as a mother as well as a writer. While I can’t go back and change that decision I have learned that I need to continue pursuing my passions of writing and reading.

Way Up North is my passion come to life it allows me to write about books, life and travel. The things that make my heart pound a little extra. I plan to write book reviews but also to share our family life. I want to write about our lives living in Northern Norway, raising dual nationals and bilingual children, travel and experiencing new cultures. I will also share our challenges with our son being diagnosed with ADHD.

Writing and sharing my experiences as well as my knowledge is a form of therapy for me, but I hope that you stick around because you find the content valuable. You can also follow us on Instagram and/or Facebook. We would definitely appreciate it! I do have a YouTube Channel that Im hoping to add more content too. Also if you want to be notified of the most up to date information then make sure to sign up for our newsletter.
