There is no better place in the world than a library. Especially a library that kids create! A million stories high? Sure. Bathtubs? Absolutely. A full-service sundae bar? Of course. Everything is possible in this library--just like in books!
Author Lindsay Leslie puts the reader in charge as the architect of a fantastical library in this imaginative picture book celebrating libraries and the joys of reading.
Lindsey Leslie is another new author for me. I am always on the look out for new and fun books to read with my daughter and/or son. This book was offered to me via Net Galley by the Publisher, Capstone Editions and Lindsey Leslie. Although I did receive a free copy of this book in exchange for my review, all thoughts are completely my own and not influenced in any way.
So You Want to Build a Library is a fun Illustrated Children’s Book, that is geared to Children between the ages of 4 to 7. This beautifully crafted book follows a young child on an adventerous journey of building their ultimate library with fun and unique additions. I would have never thought to add to a library. Some of the additions might even be crazy for some to have near beloved books, like ice cream. However, the point I think the author is trying to make is that anything is possible and that you should dream and dream big.
And you believe there is no better place on Earth than where stacks and stacks of books are kept-the library!
I review children’s books slightly differently than I review other books.
This book is engaging, has beautiful illustrations and flows beautifully. One way I really critique a children’s book is based on the reaction of my child. In the case of So You Want to Build a Library. I was reading it to our 8 year old daughter. She stayed in entertained and engaged. After we were done we discussed what we include in our libraries. We also talked about the importance of libraries, and of books. So this book is definitely a conversation starter.
Dragons? Definitely. Every book-and-library- is made better by Dragons.
My daughter enjoyed this book so much she continues to ask if we can reread it again and again
I definitely think this is a fun, imaginative book that will spark a love of libraries and books in the youngest members of your family. It will entertain, spark their imaginations and teach them to dream.
