Run. Hide. Pray for escape.
Racing down the winding streets of Imperia, my only hope of reclaiming my throne is to escape. Unfortunately, that means returning to the one place I truly fear—Berovia.
My fears—it seems—were justified. In the dark underbelly of Berovia, I am captured by King Xenos’s men and thrown into the pits with traitors and criminals to pray for salvation I knew wouldn’t come. My only hope to make it out alive is by agreeing to marry the king’s arrogant son. But this union comes at a terrible price. If I agree to be his bride, my people may be stripped of their magic and forced into submission under Kiros’s reign. If I die, I leave my corruptible cousin, Edgar, to ruin my family’s rule.
Can I find a way to save my people and myself? Or, will I die as the princess of nothing?

I discovered Rebecca L. Garcia in December when she was looking for reviewers of her first book, The Fate of Crowns. The series sounded so interesting that I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to check out her debut novel. The Princess of Nothing is book two in the Crown of Fate series. Also I did receive a free copy of this book in exchange for my review, however all thoughts are completely my own and not influenced in anyway.

The Princess of Nothing picks up the story line right where the The Fate of Crowns. The world that Rebecca L. Garcia has built is enchanting and captivating, and I am so glad we got to embark on more adventures in Magaelor, Berovia and Neferum.

Caring for our spirit is as important as taking care of our bodies. You feed yourself everyday, do you not?

The characters were more developed in The Princess of Nothing and I felt I was able to relate much better with them. We were also introduced to a few new characters, the most notable was Prince Kiros and Aqugar.

Prince Kiros is the prince of Berovia and plays an important part in the beginning of The Princess of Nothing. He is a sorcerer and uses elemental magic while him and Winter believe in different sources of their magic I see a lot of similarities between the two of them and believed there could have been an understanding between them. I think Prince Kiros is a little upptity and probably walks around with his nose in the air, but I also believe he is naive and a relatively good person compared to his father.

His glacier blue eyes found mine

We were also introduced to Aqugar, the Mer King. We also learned more about their history and their plight. The mer people haven’t always been so deadly and they are in the book and something has changed. We learn what has changed and that there might even be a solution to the problem. We didn’t learn too much about Aqugar though.

If he was the totem in which they echoed, I feared meeting such a dark and hollow thing.

Now let’s talk about Winter some. I really liked her in The Fate of Crowns however in this book she starts getting on my nerves a bit. I don’t know if its because she is immature, naive, or if it is because she is judgemental of those around her. I feel like she takes too long to learn from her mistake. I think the fact I am starting to dislike her a bit adds to her realness and authenticity. I am hoping in book three grows up some.

The pace was so much better in this book and was more consistent. It was easy to keep turning those pages to read on with a new and exciting twist or turn on each one.

Rebecca L. Garcia does an amazing job of weaving adventure, love, friendship and even hate on an epic quest to reclaim Winter’s throne. The Princess of Nothing is quick and enjoyable read that will leave you wanting more from this new and exciting world.
